Dimensions for my corner mount cabinet

I posted these because a lot of people would like to build an exact copy or something similar. If you decide to build one like mine I would love to see it when finished.

All of the wood used to build this cabinet is 3/4" MDF (medium density fiberboard) it is basically pressed sawdust with glue mixed in. It is much more dense than particle board and is also much stronger. It costs about twice as much as particle board and most of the holes for the drywall screws have to be pre-drilled.

This is a composite of all layers of the cabinet. The dimensions are color coded to show the actual dimensions of each piece. All of the corners were cut to be rounded off on my cabinet, even the base. The graphics below show each layer individually.

This is the top section which is hinged to the front wall of the base. I showed the speaker holes and the section where the tempered smoked glass lays in flush. When I redesigned the control panel I put another 3/4" piece on top of the existing panel. If I was to build a new top the contol panel would be flush with the top section. The 3" holes are where the cup holders go. I cut the rounded section out in front because it looked better that way on the first panel with the SNES pads in place.

The base is pretty simple, the angles of the 19" side in respect to the 14" side is 135 degrees. From there the rest is easy if you draw it out on the bottom of the base first. I held the base together with pieces of wood in all of the corners that meet together. Once I had the shape I wanted all of the seams were wood glued together for extra strength.

I rounded the front edge of the control panel for looks. You can get creative and choose any shape you like for the control panel.
